Dissolve one heaping teaspoon of Kuzu root in 2-3 teaspoons of cold water. In a saucepan, add one cup of cold water to the dissolved Kuzu. Bring to a boil over a medium flame. Stir constantly to avoid lumping, until the liquid becomes translucent. Reduce the flame to as low as possible. Add to this mixture the pulp of 1/2-1 umeboshi plum that has been chopped or ground to a paste. Add from several drops to one teaspoon of shoyu/soy sauce and stir gently. Simmer for 2-3 minutes. Drink while hot.
This drink is used to strengthen, promote digestion, and restore energy. It is also really great for first sign of sore throat. You can also add squeezed grated ginger juice for a more warming effect. This Kuzu root preparation consolidates runny stools and enhances overall elimination.
