Nancy will give the presentation that include at least one experiential exercise from her workbook, followed by group interaction and sharing.
Nancy Gordon, LCSW knows first-hand what it is like to descend into the depths of disability. With her combined personal experience of fibroamyalgia and a mild traumatic brain injury (TBI), and her professional experience as a psychotherapist, Nancy offers a very unique clinical and personal perspective in her practical workbook, 7 Steps of Hope and Healing™, The Emotional, Mental and Spiritual Impact of Chronic Illness and Disability.
Nancy is the author of two inspirational book series. The first, 7 Steps of Hope and Healing™, The Emotional, Mental and Spiritual Impact of Chronic Illness and Disability, is a treasure map filled with in-depth explanations of how each step supports travelers on their journey of healing, as well as exercises that clarify, uplift, and guide the reader to gain not only insights, but also the “how-to” steps to make the changes that lead to life changing experiences and true transformation. Nancy’s second inspirational book series, begins with Pink, The 3-Legged Dog Who Lost Her Leg and Found Her Courage (based on her real life three-legged service dog, Pink, and her doggie mama, Toaster. The book is beautifully illustrated by renowned artist Michael LeBold. Pink, The 3-Legged Dog Who Lost Her Leg and Found Her Courage provides hope to anyone with a limb loss or other physical limitations. The book includes an original cd of 3 songs based on the book’s themes.
Nancy is the founder of Paws for Comfort,® a greeting card line for chronic illness, disability, and caregivers. She is also the founder of the non-profit Xolos For Chronic Pain Relief™ (X-CPR), which was birthed in response to the global impact of Animal Planet’s documentary “Toaster” about Nancy’s use of her Xolos as the first identified service dog specifically for fibromyalgia and chronic pain relief. In addition to Animal Planet, Nancy has been featured on many Television segments, such as ABC and CBS. She has been interviewed on radio shows, such as Dr. Emmett Miller’s “Conversations with Extraordinary People.” Nancy was a speaker at the Annual International Conference on Fibromyalgia in Chichester, England. She has also been featured in magazines, including Ladies Home Journal, National Fibromyalgia Magazine and online special edition 20th Anniversary newsletter, and Arthritis Today.
